Not sure what to think about the Suno New York Spring/Summer collection. The prints are lovely, but it is odd to see them in a couture setting. I am imagining what it would be like to see someone walking around New York in a kanga that has been transformed into an off shoulder blouse and mini skirt. Seems a bit a silly to me.
“…each piece is made from vintage Kenyan kangas. Suno designer Max Osterweis has been collecting Kenyan kangas for some time and began making these pieces from the vintage cloth. Each piece is produced in Kenya by Kenyan artisans in small shops based on designs originating in New York. The result is a collection of 1000 unique and individually numbered pieces. According to the Pipeline, the range for this collection is $95-$595 and will be available at Opening Ceremony in NYC and LA. (via Refinery29 Pipeline)” Quote and Image Via
