We have an absurd amount of cherries, sweet and tart varieties, in a big trash bag in the fridge. I need to make some friends and invite them over for bowls of cherries (yes, soon I’ll probably be buying friends)– the supply seems to be in unending. I’ve been generally uninspired in the kitchen lately, but I found this cherry brown butter bar recipe on Smitten Kitchen and before I knew it, I was whisking eggs and pitting cherries left and right. It’s a rustic dessert — not too many ingredients, sweet but not too sweet– a perfect way to showcase fresh mountain cherries.
