(Grayson Highlands, October 2012)
I’ve done some good half day hikes this summer, but in the last week a desire to eat by a campfire, get lost in the woods, and wake up smelling of smoke and sweat has grown increasingly strong. A day hike won’t satisfy my hunger. I don’t care if my back is going to hurt, or if I can’t take my human-sized pregnancy pillow and box fan with me, or if I have to stop midway to the summit for a nap. I will go camping soon.
